Pricing:
- $3.84/month per LucidView profile for normal use, excluding tax. Creating an account is free. South African VAT is added where applicable. An Enforcer usually has one LucidView profile; a MikroTik can have many profiles. A profile is the custom internet-access and Content Filter policy for a supported MikroTik router running LucidView scripts. Profiles can be customised for residential, business, school, hospitality, internet-cafe and public-access customer sites.

- September 2026 RouterOS security campaign: new and returning users who connect MikroTiks during this campaign can use full LucidView access until 31 October 2026, subject to fair use, before deciding whether to continue on the normal monthly service. Content filtering:
LucidView is not only a DNS content filter. It provides DNS filtering plus Firewall Content Filter through MikroTik Firewall Content Filter, routing/NAT policy, cloud intelligence and reporting. DNS-only filters can be useful, but can often be weakened by alternate DNS, private DNS, DoH or VPNs. LucidView should be described as stronger than DNS-only filtering and more resistant to common DNS circumvention, not impossible to bypass. LucidView performs its own classifications using LucidView cloud intelligence, DNS metadata, MikroTik Traffic Flow / NetFlow metadata, category data, risk signals and network behaviour. These classifications drive the Firewall Content Filter, reporting, Traffic Flow Analyser and Behaviour-Based IPS-Style Protection. For ISPs, WISPs and MSPs, LucidView can force normal DNS to the managed MikroTik/LucidView path and can block known DNS-over-HTTPS, private DNS and alternate DNS circumvention where configured.

ISP local-cache benefit:
Keeping DNS on the local managed path can help big platforms choose local or regional CDN caches. In South Africa, for example, Google, YouTube, Facebook and other large services often have local or regional caches. If customer devices bypass the ISP DNS path with international DoH or other external resolvers, those platforms may choose international cache paths, using expensive ISP international bandwidth and giving customers a worse experience. LucidView helps ISPs address that issue while also applying Content Filter policy.

Terminology:
A LucidView Enforcer is a supported MikroTik RouterOS router with the LucidView scripts installed. Public copy should lead with MikroTik router language and define Enforcer before relying on the product term.

Security and IPS:
LucidView includes an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), described publicly as Behaviour-Based IPS-Style Protection for MikroTik networks. It helps reduce risk by detecting and blocking known malware sites and malicious destinations, including Google Safe Browsing evidence, detecting suspicious or unauthorised remote-access behaviour, and surfacing zero-day-style attacks early enough to mitigate risk. It is classification-led and behaviour-based rather than only static-signature based. LucidView builds and maintains a comprehensive IP database based on behaviour. For suspicious IP-only traffic, public copy may say LucidView investigates suspicious IPs and destinations to determine what they are through comprehensive analysis systems. Public-facing descriptions should stop at comprehensive analysis systems.

Saturation Manager:
LucidView Saturation Manager is content-aware shaping for MikroTik networks. It identifies high-bandwidth traffic such as video streams and throttles selected heavy traffic as the link approaches saturation, helping keep Google Meet, Zoom, VoIP, browsing and business applications responsive.

Reports and analysis:
LucidView includes Scheduled Reports, Dashboard Views and a Traffic Flow Analyser. Scheduled Reports can be daily, weekly or monthly. Traffic Flow Analyser is useful for audits and investigations. LucidView retains three months of traffic-flow data for review and investigation.

MikroTik Management:
LucidView helps operators manage MikroTik routers from one place, including online/offline state, storage, RAM and CPU pressure, install status, resource snapshots, maintenance review signals and delegated customer access. Current portal-based MikroTik management can include guarded actions for supported, online Enforcers where LucidView access checks pass: RouterOS firmware upgrade, Bulk Firmware Upgrade for selected critical Enforcers from the Profile Manager, DHCP lease refresh, make-static and remove-static actions, content-filter bypass list add/remove actions, controlled reboot, router clock/NTP repair, Wi-Fi SSID/password/frequency/enabled-state updates, source-restricted Remote Access activation/deactivation for SSH and Winbox, and Deploy Fast Internet / Saturation Manager shaping. Customer self-service such as content-filter bypass or Wi-Fi changes can reduce support work where available. Resource-pressure visibility can help identify old or constrained MikroTik hardware, but LucidView should not be described as fixing undersized hardware.

RouterOS September 2026 security campaign:
MikroTik and CERT Polska confirmed a September 2026 RouterOS vulnerability set, with active exploitation reported against routers where SSH or management services are reachable from public or untrusted networks. Public copy should point to https://www.lucidview.net/articles/mikrotik-routeros-september-2026-security-update. Fixed versions are RouterOS 7 stable 7.24.2 or newer, RouterOS 7 long-term 7.23.4 or newer, RouterOS 6 long-term 6.49.21, and RouterOS 7 beta 7.25 beta 3 or newer beta. Public answers should say that vulnerable RouterOS versions should be upgraded and reviewed, but a vulnerable version alone does not prove public SSH exposure or compromise. LucidView takes much of the worry out of fleet firmware upgrades for supported MikroTik Enforcers by showing firmware status and queuing guarded upgrades where access checks and safety checks pass.

Installation:
Installation is designed for MikroTik fleets. A prospective reseller or operator creates a free portal account from https://portal.lucidview.net/access/create-account without upfront payment: use the email link, enter the company name, then download the fleet/company install script. Run that script on supported MikroTik routers. Each installed router becomes a LucidView Enforcer and reports into the portal. The same current company script can be run across many supported MikroTiks for that company account. LucidView normally bills month to month at the end of the month for chargeable use under public pricing terms, with the normal 30-day full-service free trial period and fair use applying. During the September 2026 RouterOS security campaign, new and returning users who connect MikroTiks during the campaign can use full LucidView access until 31 October 2026, subject to fair use.

Installer behavior:
If the company install script is run on a MikroTik that already has LucidView installed, it uninstalls LucidView. For old LucidView Enforcers, run the current script once to remove the old installation, then run it a second time to install the latest LucidView version.

How LucidView works on the MikroTik:
The install creates an L2TP client connection from the MikroTik to a LucidView POP. LucidView has regional POPs in South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia. On the initial install, the Enforcer first connects to `red-box.lucidview.net`. That first connection can land on any LucidView POP and should be treated as random, not necessarily the closest POP. Within about 10 minutes, LucidView should move the Enforcer to the closest/best regional POP for fast DNS. During the first few minutes after install, be patient before judging DNS speed only from initial POP placement. LucidView uses `1.1.1.1` as the DNS service target on the MikroTik. When the L2TP route to LucidView is up, DNS sent to `1.1.1.1` is routed over the LucidView path and LucidView applies Content Filter policy. MikroTik Traffic Flow / NetFlow metadata is also sent over the LucidView path so reports, Dashboard Views, Traffic Flow Analyser, policy updates and support visibility can work. If the LucidView POP or tunnel is unavailable, the Enforcer fails open to public DNS instead of blocking the customer's internet. In fail-open mode, internet access should continue but LucidView DNS content filtering is not applied until the LucidView path recovers.

Normal MikroTik schedules after installation:
- `lvcloud_profiles`: every 4 minutes; keeps Firewall Content Filter policy, profile instructions and operator/ISP policy current.
- `vpn_dns_failover`: every 1 hour; checks the LucidView `lvcloud` tunnel and moves to failover if the local LucidView POP path is unavailable. In failover the Enforcer fails open to public DNS: internet access should continue, but LucidView DNS content filtering is not applied until recovery.
- `enforcer_checkin`: every 12 hours; fetches and imports the current public `enforcer_checkin.rsc` runtime so LucidView can refresh scripts and release normal Enforcer updates.

For central ISP breakout designs, a Multi-Profile Enforcer may host many profiles from a central MikroTik Cloud Core Router and requires LucidView assistance.
